Parents & Community

At St Andrews Primary School, we view education as a partnership. We value the contribution parents, grandparents, carers and friends of our community offer to the learning for our students. We believe in making connections for our students in our immediate and wider communities.

Parents and other volunteers are welcome to assist with classroom support, to offer specialist learning experiences, to help in the garden, the art room or the library to name a few.

We often need parents to help with driving for excursion and interschool sport. Our working bees and fundraisers rely on the generosity of our community.

STAPS Community Food Share

We also have a STAPS community food share stall - a place where anyone in the community can leave excess produce, seeds and plants to share with others.

On the 3rd Sunday of every month at 10am, we also host a Food Swap. Food swaps work by people placing their contributions on a common table. Then they stand (or sit) around chatting with others. Then, when someone wants to leave, they take whatever they want off the table. No money is involved.

Types of things you can bring:

  • Home grown fruit, veggies, nuts

  • Gardening goodies (coffee grounds, worm juice etc)

  • Recycled hessian sacks

  • Something you’ve baked (bread, cake, biscuits – please list ingredients)

  • Copies of your favourite seasonal recipe.

  • Seeds you’ve saved, seedlings and cuttings you’ve raised (only edible stuff).

  • Gardening magazines or gardening books you’ve read.

  • Homemade preserves (relishes, jams etc – please list ingredients).

  • Re-used little jam jars.
